Our Adventure Challenge

Learn the skills needed to build projects from wood and rope. Whose project will fire the furthest, whose will be the largest, and whose will take the most weight? Learn easy and not so easy knots and lashings.

To complete this course the Explorer Scout will build a scale pioneering model and take a lead role in building an outside pioneering project, such as an aerial runway or an hourglass tower.

Chef
You'll learn how to plan a menu for a weekend event for between four and six people, and we'll show how and where to shop for the food and the best way to transport it, how to store food properly and hygienically. We'll show you what you need to consider when you're using an indoor and a camp kitchen.
After than you'll cook and serve at least one of the meals from your menu, and of course learn the best way to clear up afterwards.

Expedition Challenge 1st Weekend
Enjoy two challenging and interesting cross country hikes using map and compass skills. You also need to complete a project about the area you are visiting.
This course takes two weekends to complete. Minimum age for Expedition Challenge is 12 years OR 11 years if have passed Navigator Stage 3.

Navigator Stage 3
Learn to navigate using a map and compass. Enjoy a long hike whilst trying not to get lost. This is an ideal badge for younger Scouts and a good introduction to Scout Pro-Badge.

Chef and Backwoods Cooking
A double badge weekend. Learn to cook on an open fire and also in a kitchen.
Cub Scouts complete both courses in one weekend.

Camper
Pitch your tent, camp under canvas for 2 nights, cook a meal and learn how to make various camp gadgets.
15 nights away under canvas as a Scout is required to achieve this badge, but it is not a pre-requisite to attending the course. We do recommend that 7 nights at least have been completed to get the most out of this course.

Leaders Skills
An opportunity for Leaders to learn some practical skills, we will be covering camp sites, navigation, pioneering, and some bushcraft skills including fire lighting and cooking on open fires. We will also try to answer any questions you may have. Please pass onto any Leaders who may benefit.
